Hello Johnny Appleseed Families!
It’s October and we are full steam ahead! Teachers have been setting and establishing routines. New curriculum is being introduced daily and students are working hard. As the change in weather approaches, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. The students will go outside every day we can! Sweatshirts are a good thing to keep in the backpack as needed.
***Mark your calendars: Please plan ahead for October 18th - EARLY RELEASE DAY @ 11:30.
Johnny Appleseed News:
WALK TO SCHOOL DAY: - We will be celebrating Walk to School Day on October 4th. A permission slip has been sent home and it highlights the details of the walk. You must give permission for your child to walk. I will not be accepting slips the morning of, as safety is my utmost priority. Parents are welcome to walk with us! The walk will be 1 mile long from Our Lady of the Lake Parish to Johnny Appleseed School. Students who do not have permission to walk will be supervised by staff here at the school until all classes are present. We will plan to start walking between 8:20 and 8:30 AM! We are down to about 60 missing permission slips, so if this may be you, please send a slip in to us! (See attached)
Parents who are walking: Please park at the church and walk to the church OR take a shuttle bus with us! Thank you FIRST STUDENT for helping us with this!
PICTURE DAY: October 12th - Retake 11/17
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Did you know that a chronic absenteeism rate is 10%. If your child misses 10% of the school year, they are considered chronically absent. We know illnesses happen, which is why it is essential to plan vacations and time out of school accordingly. We have been in school for 21 days… just 2 absences = 10% at this time. We appreciate all your efforts to get your child(ren) here to learn.
As we begin to revamp and introduce new forms of communication (ie: website, instagram, etc.) please complete the following photo release permission form:
Transportation Changes: remember that if your child is being dismissed or changing the usual routine in transportation, we need a note for a parent/guardian stating the change and the name(s) of anyone who may be dismissing your child. Your child’s safety is our top priority. Anyone dismissing a child from school must have identification.
