Hello Johnny Appleseed Families!

 

I am so grateful for another amazing week as principal at Johnny Appleseed! The WALK TO SCHOOL DAY was such a wonderful way to pull the community together. I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend! We are halfway through the first quarter of the school year. If you have behavioral/social and/or academic concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s). You should also be scheduling a Parent Teacher Conference (11/20 and 11/21) with your child’s teacher. This is the ONLY formal conference that we hold all year, so it is a great time to touch base and set your child up for success! 

 

Attendance and tardiness letters have gone out. It is important to note that just 2-3 days of being out, at this point in the school year, is chronic. Take some time to evaluate the absences of your child - if they are due to illness - we understand! Katie and I have families too, and we know what it is like to have sick kiddos. Please evaluate  your reasons for keeping your child home. Important learning happens each and every day. This is why it is also essential to arrive at school on time! Students are engaged in learning as soon as they arrive in class at 8:15 AM!

NEW PLAYGROUND NEWS: New fencing is being installed this week. Beginning 10/19, demolition of the old playground and delivery of the new playground is set to begin 10/20. Before you know it, we will have an awesome new, inclusive playground structure. Don’t worry - our plan is to keep the dragon! 

School Council: Congratulations to parent representatives, Antonia Garcia and Meghan Severance, on being voted in as members of the JA School Council for the 23-24 school year! I am still looking for a Leominster community member to join our council. Please email me if you know someone who might be interested.

Thanksgiving Game At Fenway Park

The LHS Football Team has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play the Thanksgiving Game at Fenway Park! The game will be played at 6:30 on November 22nd (that’s the night before Thanksgiving).

The district is providing a free ticket for any Leominster Public Schools student who wants to attend the game! Tickets must be reserved by November 3rd.

October 11: Legends Dine Out event - 10% of your lunch or dinner bill will be donated to the PTO. Just mention JA when you dine there!
