Johnny Appleseed Elementary

Week of April 29th

Hello Johnny Appleseed Families,

Can you believe it is MAY!? This is another busy week at school. Wednesday is an early release day. Please plan accordingly for the 11:30 dismissal time: May 1 - dismissal @ 11:30.  Lifetouch will be back on 4/30 for Spring Photos! This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. The PTO has sent home a flyer about what they have planned. I attached the flyer to this message as well. We are very appreciative of our teachers and all their hard work. I am so happy to celebrate them in this way.

CAFETERIA DROP OFF/PICK UP: It is ESSENTIAL that you park at the church and walk across to the school. If you cannot do this, please utilize Day Street. I will be reaching out to specific families if need be.

Reminders from Nurse Jenny and Nurse Jen: The dental program will be back at JA the week of 4/29 to see students with signed parental consent.

We have seen a huge uptick in nurse visits, which is to be expected with an increase in sickness. Please understand that we will limit visits for loose teeth, chapped lips, and other minor ailments, so our nurse team can attend to more serious needs.Teachers will be trying to assess minor vs. major needs. In the month of March, the nurse’s office saw 1,908 students. We will be starting a newsletter from the Nurse’s Office in an effort to provide information and keep parents informed.

DAY STREET: This week, the Leominster Police Department visited JA to take a closer look at Day Street and try to brainstorm some remedies. There are no initial changes at this time.  Please do not block driveways. Please be mindful of where you may need to turn around to access the line. The police recommend turning on your hazard lights while you are on Day Street to indicate you are in the car line. REMEMBER - NO LEFT TURNS into the Day Street entrance - there is a sign that indicates this and police plan to help enforce. We appreciate your help with this.

SAVE THE DATES FOR MCAS TESTING:
