Hello Johnny Appleseed Families,
How are we already coming up on the last full week of school? It is SPIRIT WEEK! I have attached information to this email. I want to thank the 60 - ish volunteers who will be helping us with AM and PM field day! This is a great day for our students. Thank you to Mrs. Bernard for preparing all the physical fun! Please make sure your child(ren) is wearing sneakers. Anyone who wears open-toed shoes will be limited on what games they can play. Apply sunscreen at home. Hats will be fine for extra coverage. Pack a refillable water bottle!
Grade 5 students will be “moving up” to Sky View on Wednesday, June 12th. This will be a great opportunity for students to tour the school and ask questions that may be on their minds. This is the first step in getting ready for middle school!
Grade 4 will be sharing their state projects at the annual State Fair! We welcome any 4th grade parents to come view the projects and hear what the students have learned about the state he/she was assigned. This will take place in the cafeteria!
Summer reading information was sent out this past week. Students will bring home a summer reading book and a choice of an assignment to complete and return to school in September.
Mrs. G and I wanted to thank you all for entrusting your children with us each and every school day! We have reflected on this past year… was there really a flood in Leominster? It has been a wonderful year and a year filled with academic and social growth for ALL our learners. We will continue to work as a team with you to support your children through these learning years!
I would like to thank the PTO for all their hard work and efforts to make Johnny Appleseed a school community that people envy! WE HAVE A NEW PLAYGROUND!!! We will have enhancements to our outdoor classroom, and with the help of the PTO, we continue to improve the environment and learning experiences of all our students.
I want to thank the School Council - Antonio Garcia, Meghan Severance, Jessica Gale, and Anna Smith for helping me create a school improvement plan that keeps student growth, equity, strong family/community relationships, and social emotional learning at the forefront! I am excited to introduce “Coffee with the Principals” this fall! Your parental and teaching experiences are essential to improving Johnny Appleseed!
I want to take this opportunity to wish our retirees the very best in their future endeavors! These will be nearly impossible shoes to fill. You have all touched so many lives being a part of this school. We have all learned so much from each of you and you will be VERY missed! Congratulations Mrs. Croteau (grade 3), Mrs. Mason (grade 1), Mrs. Lelli (grade 4), Mrs. Patev (grade 5), and Mrs. Morand (support staff grade 3). We LOVE you all!
I want to thank the hard working, dedicated Johnny Appleseed teachers and staff! They work tirelessly day in and day out! They are making a difference in the lives of your children! They spend hours planning and differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all our learners. They are constantly looking at data and finding ways to improve their teaching practices. They work many hours, beyond the school day, making sure they prepare impactful lessons. I could not be more proud!
Lastly, thank you parents for being on our team. Your children matter to all of us! This week, I will be sending out a survey for you to complete that was created by the School Council in an effort to help us understand the climate and culture of Johnny Appleseed from a parental perspective, as well as find new ways to connect with you all. Be on the lookout for that!
