Good Day, Sky View Family.
As we look forward to our first true taste of spring weather (which will actually feel more like summer!) over the next few days, I remind all our students of our expectations surrounding proper school attire:
The building will be very warm in some areas with the increased temperatures predicted this week. Our students are expected to dress appropriately for the school environment every day, regardless of the temperatures outside/inside. The warmer temperatures do not give students permission to wear clothes that would be better suited for the beach than for school. Please don’t let your student be the one who needs to call home for a change of clothes during the school day.
In many cases, a simple zip up or button up sweater, hoodie or sleeved shirt is all that is required to make an outfit more appropriate for school.
Much like with our Cell Phone policy, none of our staff wake up in the morning hoping to critique a student's fashion…that is not what this is about…We’d all much rather concentrate on educating our students. A few quick basics from our dress code:
Pants should be worn at the waist
Shorts/skirts should be mid-thigh in length, not shorter
No spaghetti-straps, halter tops or see-through clothing
Students should not show any part of their midriff
Please help us maintain a proper, educational environment by talking with your student about these expectations. After all, I would love to come to work each day in a bathing suit and flip flops, but that’s not the expectation for a school….nor how you want to see your principal!
Thanks.
