Hello Johnny Appleseed Families,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Time to say good-bye to 2023 and welcome 2024! It is the perfect time to look at the progress our students have made in the last 4 months and begin to think about where we will take them in the coming months! This month is full of mid-year assessments that include: DIBELS, iReady ELA, iReady Math and ACCESS for our EL Students. Teachers and support staff will look closely at student data and address areas in need of improvement or acceleration. This is why attendance matters! Being in school is the best way to have an impact on student learning and outcomes. Please reach out if you need anything.
Before vacation, the students brought home Italian Night information. This is a great event held right here at JA, and we hope that you will be able to join us or support in some way - SAVE THE DATE: January 11th (snow date: January 18th).
The weather has been so unpredictable. The students go outside as long as the weather permits, so please be sure your child(ren) has warm weather gear! Reach out if you are in need of a jacket or other clothing items.
This is the perfect time to reach out to us if any of your contact information has changed (ie: address, phone numbers, or emails). Simply call the main office to make edits if needed.
Attendance: Attendance will be addressed weekly, as we continue to work toward improving chronic absenteeism. Letters are sent regularly to families who have reached chronic absenteeism levels. Right now, 8 absences is considered chronic at this point in the school year. Tardies are also monitored regularly. ALL grade levels begin the day with a deep focus on phonics skills and/or math skills that are essential for building on a variety of skills and concepts. Students need to be present. School begins at 8:15 AM. All students should arrive at school between 7:45 and 8:15. If you live in the JA district, a bus is available to your student and can ensure a timely arrival. We appreciate all your efforts in making school attendance a priority.
