Hello Johnny Appleseed Families,
Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms! I hope you have taken time out of your day to enjoy yourselves and relax. With just 5 weeks left of school, we are reminding students daily that school is very much “still in session”! There will be many upcoming events for students, so we are continuing to remind students of school expectations. We are getting through to the finish line for MCAS! Grades 4 and 5 will wrap up testing this week. Please see the following dates:
May 14, 15 (4th grade MATH)
May 16, 17 (5th grade SCIENCE)
We are so proud of our 5th grade students who fundraised for Strong Little Souls. Last week, they presented them with a check for $1,831! That is amazing. Thank you to all of you who supported their fundraising efforts!
Miss Melissa, our Library/Media Specialist would like to remind all families that books will need to be returned by 5/31. The library book checkout system will be closing soon.
We have seen some improvement in behavior this week. If your student has a cell phone, ipad, or other electronic device that allows for chats and private interactions, please monitor this closely. Oftentimes, negative exchanges carry over into the classroom.
PTO and Families: All of our staff would like to thank the PTO for an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week! We enjoyed so many wonderful treats! We know this takes time and effort! Thank you for brightening our days!
CAFETERIA DROP OFF/PICK UP: It is REQUIRED that you park at the church and walk across to the school. I myself experienced some real difficulties in the front lot. Staff tries to leave at 2:45 and blocking the spots causes so many unsafe issues. If you cannot do this, please utilize Day Street. I will be reaching out to specific families if need be. Only people with hand-capped placards may park in the designated handicapped spots.
DAY STREET: REMEMBER - NO LEFT TURNS into the Day Street entrance - there is a sign that indicates this and police plan to help enforce. We appreciate your help with this. Please use hazards when in the car line.
INSTAGRAM: If you want to see all the happenings at JA, follow our new instagram page: @JASCHOOL845
Attendance: Please make every effort to come to school. We are in the homestretch and we don’t want the students missing important academic skills!
PTO News:
If you plan to volunteer at field day, you must have an up to date Cori filled out. Field day is scheduled for June 10th with a rain date of June 11th. PTO will send information about how to volunteer soon.
