Week of 9/3 - Weekly Update

This week we welcome the class of 2037, Kindergarten! This is an exciting time for all our K students and families. We are excited to see all of our classrooms busy and full.

As we start this 2nd week of school, I would like to thank all the families that have sent in yellow transportation forms. Apple tickets have been added to our first weekly drawing, and I will pick a lucky winner to do morning announcements with me this week. This was so helpful in ensuring all our students get home safely. Please remember to communicate any changes in transportation in writing.

I would also like to thank all our families who have communicated any changes in numbers or email addresses. You may notice that we did not send home a form to change important student information. In the coming weeks, we hope to have directions on how to access the family portal in order for you to make any important changes to student information. In the meantime, feel free to email me.

Please label your students' belongings, especially sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunch boxes. These are the most popular items that get left in places like the playground, cafeteria, and gym.

Open House is a great time to come see the school and meet your child's teachers. It's a good time to ask questions and hear classroom expectations. We wil have tabels from a few organizations and groups such as: JA PTO, Boys and Girls Club, SEPAC, and ELPAC. Open House is Thursday, September 12th 5:00 - 7:00 PM. We are asking that you come during the times that are reserved for your grade level. 5:00 - 6:00 will be for K,1, and 2. 6:00 - 7:00 will be for 3, 4, and 5. Please park at the church across the street. We look forward to seeing you there.

This year we will be taking a break from our annual Boosterthon. Boosterthon has helped us with some many projects around the school. We have redone our cafeteria and stage, brightened up the school with new artwork, built a new playground shed and added features to enhance outdoor fun and activities. We are currently working on improving our outdoor classroom space. It has been great and families have done an amazing job supporting Boosterthon.

This year, we will have a few fundraisers that also provide a service to families, for example dine outs and Worcester Railers. We are also bringing back the JA Giving Tree, which is one monetary donation that goes directly to the JA PTO. It is the simplest way to donate! There will be more information in the coming days. Please visit the PTO table at Open House.

Have a nice week!

~ Mrs. Tapply
